Billy Gray is an actor, motorcycle speedway racer, and inventor.  You may know him best as Bud Anderson, the relatable son from the hit television show, Father Knows Best (1954-1960).

From his earliest film roles, Billy stood out as a kid actor who consistently brought great depth to the characters he created.  Whether playing Doris Day’s mischievous little brother in On Moonlight Bay (1951) and By the Light of the Silvery Moon (1953), Dan Dailey’s wise-cracking son in The Girl Next Door (1953), or Michael Rennie’s trusted young ally in The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951), Billy Gray never played the same character twice.  His uncanny ability to bring his roles to life underscored a talent developed well beyond his years.

Billy Gray: Beyond Hollywood

Billy segued into a second career as a motorcycle speedway racer, racing against the very best in the sport over the course of his 25 year career.  Stepping away from Hollywood also led to a successful career as an inventor: through the years, Billy has invented countless products and has several patents to his name.

When I met Billy for lunch at the beautiful Topanga Canyon restaurant, Inn of the Seventh Ray, I was blown away by the man before me.  Agile and quick-witted, Billy still has that twinkle in his eye that made Bud Anderson one of television’s most beloved characters.

I know you’ll enjoy listening to Billy’s story as much as I did.
